Perricone MD has always been ahead of the curve, and now the pioneering skincare company has performed a little nip and tuck on its own collection, rebooting its age-defying products for a new generation.

When it comes to advances in anti-ageing ingredients, Perricone MD leads the way. The cosmeceutical skincare brand, created by dermatologist Dr Nicholas Perricone, has always existed on the cutting-edge of science and technology. Now, the company has reengineered its products to make them easier to use and more powerful (and they have the clinical trials to back them up!). The revamped collection is colour-coded and streamlined to clearly communicate its benefits. And whilst this may not necessarily be entry-level skincare, it will certainly level-up any routine. That means a correction in the appearance of deep wrinkles, creases and crepiness, especially relevant for those with mature skin. We spoke to the brand’s chief innovation officer, Chris Caires about the brand’s refresh, his skin tips and why acyl-glutathione is a non-negotiable.

Acyl-glutathione features in quite a few of your products. How does it work?

"It's the primary molecule our cells use to fight environmental aggressors like stress, sun damage or free radical damage. Found naturally in every cell, glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant and hailed as its most important detoxification agent. As we mature, our natural levels of glutathione deplete, while natural toxin build-up appears on the skin in the form of deep lines and creases, discolouration and dehydration. Perricone MD's patented Acyl-Glutathione molecule forms a bond that is both water and fat soluble, which allows it to be easily absorbed into the skin's surface. It helps to replenish the essential building blocks of healthy-looking skin, resulting in a more supple, even-toned, radiant appearance."

What is the most effective way to use your range?

"I'm a firm believer in having a simple regimen, for AM and PM. Some people love to layer, but we know it's not everyone’s cup of tea. For a basic skincare regimen for day, you should cleanse, tone, apply a serum, apply a moisturiser with SPF and then finish with an eye cream. For night, it's similar but includes a mask or peel before your serum. It's best to ensure you are choosing products based on your specific skin concerns."

Can you tell us more about the new Cold Plasma formula?

"We eliminated the fishy smell by switching our omega source from algae to another plant-based source, and added an ingredient called copper tripeptide to improve the overall efficacy of the product."

What do you prescribe for people who have multiple skin concerns?

"The simple answer is Cold Plasma Plus Advanced Face Serum. But we have lots of other options as well. Most of our serums target a couple of concerns, versus just one. The product recommendation would depend on what those multiple skin concerns may be."
