Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder has a new shade. Here’s what you need to know about it

Laura Mercier’s Translucent Setting Powder is without a doubt a makeup bag staple. It can be worn on its own, used to bake or just be lightly applied all over your foundation. It’s lightweight, undetectable, provides a filter-like effect that lasts for hours; no wonder it’s garnered a league of fans worldwide.

Laura Mercier definitely knew they were on to a good thing when they created this icon—because they’ve since taken its failproof formula and made it into a glowier version and now a deeper hue: introducing their latest ‘Honey’ shade. This latest iteration allows you to set medium tones with olive and golden undertones, whereas the original is often better suited to a paler skin tone.

Whether you naturally have a deeper skin tone, or with the weather warming up you’re thinking about incorporating a deeper shade into your mix (hello, fake tan), we think this latest shade is one to try. It’s the same matte formula you’ve come to know and still has all the same benefits of its lighter older sister: from it’s no-flashback promise to the way it blends.

The brand’s Global Beauty Director, Jason Hoffman recently shared his tips to applying any shade of the Translucent Setting Powder, saying it’s all in the ‘Powder Puff’ technique. “It’s part of our heritage at Laura Mercier and we want everyone to learn it—it’s an absolute must,” states Hoffman. “It’s Laura’s signature press and roll motion that helps sets makeup perfectly for 16 hours—super easy to do!” To give this a go, simply take the puff, dip it into the powder, tap off the excess and wrap the puff around your pointer finger for precision. Then slowly tap and roll the puff over the face where you require your makeup to be set.

And why Hoffman thinks everyone should try all of the Translucent Powder shades? “It’s absolutely all about [its] performance! It blends effortlessly on the skin and feels soft and silky and lasts all day.”
