Just landed: September arrivals

NARS Atomic Blonde Eyeand Cheek Palette

At MECCA HQ, we’ve been calling this one the Bombshell Starter Kit. Those warm metallic shades are a recipe for sultry, sexy eyes. The highlighter and bronzer, meanwhile, create cheekbones worthy of Charlize Theron. The best part about the smouldering colour combinations is that they are foolproof to apply. Whether you’re a shadow rookie or could host your own beauty YouTube channel, this palette could be your everything this summer.

Stila Heaven’s Dew All Over Glimmer

Highlighters exist on a spectrum, and this one is at the max-watt level. It’s the kind of glitter that eats shimmer for breakfast. The pearlescent formula has a translucent base that allows light to permeate it, creating a hyper-lustrous effect. Usually with this level of dazzle you’re dealing with a stickiness that makes it hard to apply and easy to crease, smudge or move, but this cream-to-powder texture is longwearing, transfer-resistant and not at all tacky. If you harbour aspirations of looking like an ethereal angel, this is the frosty glimmer to do it.

Stila Shimmer & Glow Vivid & Vibrant Liquid Eye Shadow

There’s a time and place for subtle eyes, but 2018 isn’t it if Stila has its way. The latest collection of its successful Shimmer & Glow eye shadows explores bold, jewel tones that are out of this world. This highly pigmented liquid formula glides on and then dries down to a weightless, long-wearing colour. We’re predicting the deep pink tone, Vivid Garnet, to be the belle of the ball.

bareMinerals ClayMates Be Bright & Be Firm Mask Duo

Clay masks are back in a big way. This one relies on two complementary formulas to target specific skin concerns. The first half, infused with papaya enzymes and pomegranate extracts, is for brightening and sloughing off dead skin cells. It’s ideal for congested areas like the T-zone and chin. The other half is for firming, combining collagen-boosting kale seed and watermelon extract to tighten, smooth and hydrate. Use it anywhere you’d like a lift, including cheeks, jawline and neck. Apply both simultaneously and let them work their magic for 15 minutes.

Omorovicza Complexion Perfector BB Cream SPF 20

Plenty of complexion products are hybrids that tick both skin care and coverage boxes, but this multitasker from Omorovicza is something else entirely. It plumps, perfects and evens out your skin, leaving it with a sheer, flawless finish. It has hyaluronic acid for resurfacing and nourishing the complexion, and a potent dose of Vitamin C to boost collagen production and energise skin. Oh, and it has SPF 20 to shield from UVA and UVB rays. It’s essentially an anti-ageing cream masquerading as a BB cream.

Too Faced Throwback Metallic Lipstick

Way back in 1998, Too Faced launched eight glitter lipsticks, and the beauty world has never been the same. The revamped glitter lip line, part of the brand’s 20th anniversary collection, includes 10 bold, creamy shades. They shine brighter than the KiraKira app that adds sparkle to your Instagram posts. They’re limited edition, so, you know, snap them up quickly.

Rodin Mermaid Collection Luxury Illuminating Powder & Luxury Illuminating Liquid

The packaging for this collection is almost worthy of framing. It’s designed by artist Donald Robertson and inspired by the brand founder, Linda Rodin, a Pisces with an affinity for the sea. The range is all about iridescent glow, the kind you’d expect of a mermaid. The Luxury Illuminating Liquid imbues skin with a sheer gilded sheen created by micro-fine light-reflecting optics. It can be worn alone or mixed with foundation or moisturiser for an instant radiance boost. The Luxury Illuminating Powder comes in one, universally flattering shade, Siren. It provides natural coverage and feels ultra-silky. It will be a handbag essential.

By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick

Only Terry de Gunzburg, the Paris-based visionary, would think to combine matte foundation, highlighter and a sponge applicator in one stick. The By Terry founder says she was inspired by her work as a makeup artist, and that blending the two textures together creates an exquisitely glowy base. Use them together for complete coverage, or individually as a complexion corrector or to add dewiness. In other words, endless fun.

Lancome Prismatic Plump Lip Gloss

Part of the iridescent wave of products landing this month, these glosses contain micro-holographic pearls that offer multidimensional shine. The formula also plumps lips (bonus) and can be easily layered over your favourite lipstick to amplify your look. Available in six sensual shades, from barely-there to high-impact, this limited edition gloss is the easiest way to embrace spring.

Editor’s note: Omorovicza Complexion Perfector BB Cream SPF 20 will be available from October 2018.
