In case you missed it, Meccaland, the biggest beauty festival in Australia wrapped up last week. Over the three-day festival some of our biggest brands dropped some seriously swoon-worthy launches. The best part? There really was something for everyone. From face and body glitter to hair shimmer we saw plenty of iridescent launches for the festival glam-queen; there were hair masks and sheet masks for the self-love beauties and for the makeup junkie there were dewy foundations, pearly highlighters and light-diffusing blushes (even one named after us!). Couldn’t make it? We’re bringing the best to a store near you.
Based on the universally-flattering pink-peach blend, NARS launched the Orgasm Collection to celebrate their 20th anniversary of the product. With a name impossible to forget, the iconic colour can be found in makeup bags around the globe, probably because the magical shade “flatters all skin tones,” as brand founder François Nars told Allure magazine. The collection fittingly modelled by another bona-fide icon, Naomi Campbell includes the Endless Orgasm Palette, six multi-tasking cream illuminating shades that can be blended on the eyes, cheeks and lips; the Liquid Highlighter, a lightweight fluid that that can be mixed with foundation or moisturiser for subtle glow or applied directly to the high points for high beam radiance; the Oil Infused Lip Tint, a luxe, non-sticky oil that adds a delicate pop of pink to the lips and the original iconic Orgasm Blush. The product that started it all has been repackaged into a jumbo size.
Healthy hair starts at the roots. New to the hair game, Frank Body pre-launched their caffeine Scalp Scrub and Hair Mask at Meccaland. Frank co-founder Bree Johnson told us, “no one thinks about the skin on their scalp. It’s so important because it helps the health of your hair.” The scrub removes product build up and exfoliates the scalp leaving the hair clean and feeling minty fresh. The hair mask then works to hydrate your locks to keep them strong and shiny. (Editor's note: This product is available on June 4)
One of our favourite tinted moisturisers is now a stick foundation. This water-based, vegan-friendly formula melts into the skin for buildable, long-wearing coverage. Like the original, it’s lightweight and never cakey. Celebrity makeup artist Nikki DeRoest (think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Emma Roberts, Bella Hadid and more) suggests using it like a concealer or contour, which is exactly how she used it at Meccaland on Huntington-Whiteley. To complement the stick, BareMinerals have also released a Silicone Dual Sided Sponge which builds coverage without absorbing product so you can get the most from your foundation.
The Kylie Jenner-approved spritz is now available in a refreshing orange blossom scent. This hydrating mist not only boosts radiance but uplifts your mood too. Plus, it’s so good we’ve heard our customers keep one in their car, their handbag and in their fridge.
Hourglass made us our very own shade of their bestselling blush. You might recognise it from the Mecca 20th birthday palette but you loved it so much, that they brought it back, just for us! Created to reflect Mecca’s signature coral pink, this finely milled powder is blended with Hourglass’ signature soft-focus powders for an ethereal glow.
In a nod to pride, owning who you are and having fun, Urban Decay have released new glitter products with added colours to reflect “the full spectrum of the rainbow,” says Urban Decay’s Global Makeup Artist, Steve Kassajikian. Four new glitter shades have joined the existing line up of 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencils, whilst the collection sees six new shades added to the Glitter Liners. However, the most exciting launch is the new Glitter Gels which feature multi-sized shimmers that can be used on the face and body.
If you’ve tried the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels (and if you haven’t, where have you been?)—you are going to LOVE this serum. Like the mask, this serum brightens, firms and de-puffs. Packed with over 20 peptides, a few drops of this wonder gel will have you looking I-got-a-full-nine-hours well rested. And for many of us after all that fun at Meccaland, that’s something we definitely need.
All hail the MVP of glitter eyeshadows. Stila released an exclusive shade at Meccaland, just for us. The colour Deception is a duo-chrome liquid eyeshadow that flashes between pink, gold and blue depending on the angle the light hits your eye. Diana Shelton, an Artistry Executive for Stila told us, “you could wear the colour all over the lid or mix it with Kitten Karma [champagne with silver and copper sparkle] or Diamond Dust [sheer silver with multi-colour sparkle] for luscious colour.”
Just in case you needed some extra glow, GlamGlow have you covered with their new sheet mask. The two-piece, lace patterned mask will invigorate and hydrate with hyaluronic acid, green tea and caffeine for self-ready skin in minutes. And bonus: the mask is great for selfie-content.
The little sister to the customer-favourite True Serum Foundation, Ilia have released the True Serum Concealer. It’s a lightweight, medium coverage blend packed full of potent, natural ingredients—think, skincare infused makeup. Stabilised vitamin C works to brighten whilst Mastic mattifies for all day, shine-free wear.
Our new favourite festival glam is here. Get your shine fix with this holographic strobing jelly that can be used on the face, body or in your hair. The best news is that they work in all hair types and wash out with ease, so you won’t be finding glitter on everything days later. The prismatic shimmer is available in pink or gold, or you can mix them together for the ultimate celestial fix.
Powered by a cocktail of skin-loving superfoods, this mask is like a multi-vitamin for the complexion. In 10 minutes, purple clay and black tea extract work to balance and detoxify oily, blemish-prone skin, whilst nourishing omegas keep the skin plump and hydrated. (Editor's note: This product is available on July 2)
