It’s a New Year, but the same you. What we’re really interested in are the products and hacks that beauty experts will always reach for. Tried and tested routines, tips and tricks that remain central to the skin, hair and makeup routines of professionals. Here, industry experts outline their secrets and why they’re not subscribing to New Year, New You anymore.
My beauty ethos is…“Skincare is important to me, because without a consistent routine I break out. I like proven, active ingredients and layering lots of products, so I'm quite high maintenance in that regard. But as for makeup I'm much more relaxed — I love light, natural products with a beautiful texture.”
My go-to beauty products are…“So many must-haves! SPF is a non-negotiable every single day (Mecca To Save Face SPF50+ Superscreen is one of my favourites), as is retinol (for me, this is the best way to keep my skin clear). I love Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (it covers literally everything!) and Kosas Tinted Face Oil (super glowy, sheer coverage that's perfect on good skin days).
My best beauty trick is…“One of my favourite tricks for natural looking skin is to take a damp beauty blender and press in my foundation/tinted moisturiser before going over with a setting mist. I also like to run brow gel backwards (towards the centre of my face) to really amp up volume.”
My beauty ethos is…“The look needs to be easy, low maintenance, fun and can't look like I'm trying to hide my features in anyway. I used to use beauty as a method of concealing instead of enhancing, which manifested into a disdain for how I really look. The brief is to enhance!”
My go-to beauty products are…“A great, lightweight liquid concealer (Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer is a great option) that blends seamlessly into my skin. I also think a good brow gel is a game changer if you're into a fluffy moment.”
My best beauty trick is…“It pays to understand technique of how products should be applied and how tools should be used. That way you're getting the result you desire and you're not wasting product fumbling around.”
My beauty ethos is…“My approach to beauty is less is more! I love a natural makeup look and only want to enhance the natural beauty of my clients.”
My best beauty trick is…“My number one make-up trick is to use any clear soap with a spoolie brush and to brushyour eyebrow hair up to get that fuller and bushy brow look!”
My beauty ethos is…“My approach is to enhance my clients’ best features and to accentuate their true natural beauty. From a technical viewpoint, I focus on skin preparation and the rest follows!”
My go-to beauty products are…“My favourite must-haves are the “easy to use” products that offer phenomenal results and longevity. Items that can be applied quickly and easily and that are long lasting. Some of my favourites include RMS Living Luminizer and “Un” Cover-Up Foundation , as they mimic radiant glowing skin and can give a fresh look when you might actually be feeling otherwise. Skincare must-haves are always on my list include Go-To Face Hero Face Oil and Tatcha’s Luminous Dewy Sheet Mask.
My best beauty trick is…“Start with the eyes first, it will allow you to get up against the face and feel completely comfortable applying from all angles. And use your fingertips as a tool as often as you can.”
My beauty ethos is…“I look at my own routine in a relaxed yet consistent way. The ritual is my engine starter for the day and my curtain close at night, it should always be enjoyable and quick… ish.”
My go-to beauty products are…“Darphin 8 Flower Nectar Oil is my night time faithful for years. It plumps, hydrates, lifts the skin and the aroma therapy element literally puts me to sleep. And Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo and Super Rich Conditioner, again I have used this for years and have had affairs with other brands but I keep going back. I find it has the perfect balance in giving you hydration, fullness and sheen, oh and it does something magical on blonde hair too!”
My best beauty trick is…“For skincare I always press in serum twice, leaving it to dry down before moisturiser/oils. For make-up I only apply to the centre parts of the face while the moisturiser is still wet, when it dries down the effect is totally natural and undetectable.”
