Watch: one mum (who is a makeup artist) on how she introduces her teenagers to makeup

Nowadays it feels like teenagers are often teaching their mums about makeup, rather than the other way around; but gosh do we wish we had a more subtle introduction to beauty, prior to caking on the matte mousse foundations and misplaced blue eyeliner.

Serving up the guide we wish we had, Sydney-based makeup artist and mum to two teenagers, Filomena Natoli, is showing us how she introduces her teenagers to makeup with two looks that won’t cover up, but rather enhance, how they look and feel. Today’s models: her very own daughters, Paige and Paris.

On Paris, 15, Natoli goes for a natural, sheer base of the bestselling bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream with a pop of liquid highlighter and cream blush on the cheeks. To finish it off with a touch of fun, she adds a subtle silver liner on the lids with the help of MECCA MAX’s creamy Zoom Shadow Stick in Silver.

Paige, who’s two years older and starting to get more experimentative with makeup, goes for hydrated, dewy skin with a light layer of Bobbi Brown’s Nude Finish Tinted Moisturiser, a natural sweep of bronze a la By Terry, and a gilded gold lid for a splash of wearable colour.
