How To

Our second how-to feature with leading makeup artist Linda Jeffereys was inspired by Debbie Harry, Madonna and Gwen Stefani. No look has endured more than a power-pop pairing of red lips and killer brows—worn brushed up and natural for spring 2017. Wear this look on stage, on the road and on days off.

Step 1

This look starts with the brows. Using the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil, draw soft, hair-like strokes to help fill in brows, then use the applicator’s spoolie end to brush up hairs for a thick and natural effect. Linda’s tip: “This is the new way to do brows this season. We’re moving away from heavy, sharp lines and an overly filled-in look.”

Step 4

Using the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 in The Bare Neutrals, sweep a wash of soft brown or neutral colour onto the eyelids. Linda’s tip: “It’s important to keep the focus on the brows and lips, so keep the eye colour neutral and use only a light brown mascara or no mascara at all.”

Step 4

Create a clean contour and shape to the lips by lining them with NARS Precision Lip Liner in Mariachi. Fill in slightly to help keep colour in place. Linda’s tip: “Liner is essential for creating a beautiful shape for red lipstick, and to prevent bleeding for colour that lasts all day.”

Step 6

Finish this look by applying red lip colour. Here, Linda has used NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop. Linda’s tip: “There were so many reds to choose from in this collection. I thought this shade was perfect for fairer complexions. For a deeper or more olive skin tone, a brighter, orange-red would work really well.”
