WATCH: Don’t start over—try these 4 hacks to fix your beauty mistakes

No matter the level of skill, a moment of beauty weakness (or sudden distraction) can wreak havoc on an otherwise flawless look. We’re talking misshapen wings, a messy bold lip and transferred mascara galore. Thankfully MECCA HQ’s glamour queen, Isabella, is here to help.

WONKY WINGS

A slip of the hand and it can feel like game over. Trust us, it’s not. To fix uneven or mishappen liner, all you need is a small amount of concealer applied on a cotton tip. Then, carefully swipe the cotton tip along the top and bottom of the wing to clean up any wonky lines and create an ultra-sharp finish.

A SMUDGED LIP

There’s a reason most artists apply lipstick with a brush, not a bullet; precision can be a little tricky, so luckily fixing it is a breeze. Apply a similar technique to that of the winged liner, gliding a concealer-dipped sponge along the outline of the lip to clean it up.

TRANSFERRED MASCARA

It’s an easy slip up and for many, happens on the daily, especially when using a mascara with a large wand. If you don’t have any eyeshadow applied, erasing the stamp of unwanted mascara is easy. Wait for it to dry (trust us, this’ll result in a cleaner fix), then take a little primer or moisturiser on a cotton tip and erase it away.

IF YOU GOT A BIT CARRIED AWAY WITH BLUSH…

…You don’t have to start over again. If you’ve gone a little too hard on the blush or have messed up the placement, all you need to do is take a soft stippling blush and buff a light layer of your foundation into the area you wish to remedy. This will instantly diffuse the excess blush. For the perfect finish, use a clean, fluffy brush to sweep over and blend in any harsh lines.
