Nothing says ‘effortlessly cool’ quite like glossy, tousled beach waves; our go-to references are It-Girls Carmen Hamilton, Sara Donaldson and Megan Blake Irwin who’ve got it down to an inspirational art. While it can come naturally for some, especially when you’re beachside and can just let the salt water work its magic, for the rest of us it’s all about knowing how to fake it. The secret lies in having the right products (Bumble and bumble) and tools (ghd), and knowing just how to work them. We’ve broken it down into five easy steps. Great Summer hair days await.
After washing your hair with Bumble and bumble Surf Form Wash Shampoo and Surf Crème Rinse Conditioner, work a pea-sized amount of Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer into damp hair to protect it from harsh UV rays and heat styling.
Spritz Bumble and bumble Surf Spray through the roots of your hair and brush it through with 3More Inches No.1 Brush–ideal for gently detangling wet hair.
Next, blow dry your hair, and if it’s prone to frizz, pull a large round brush through the lengths as you dry it for a smoother finish.
Once dry, create waves using ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand, taking small sections at a time and wrapping your hair over and around the wand. Make sure you leave the ends of the hair free so they’re straight rather than curled.
After running your fingers through your hair to break up the waves a little, add the final touch with a spritz of Byredo Gypsy Water Hair Perfume so you leave a delightfully-scented trail wherever you go.
