NARS has long had an impressive eye game. Its powder shadow collection has gone to the end of the rainbow and back, proposing electric hues, wearable shades and trending colours in various finishes and formats. Naturally, when we heard the brand was retooling its entire shadow collection, we raised an eyebrow of concern.
Would our favourite shades (like the heavenly golden duo Isolde) stil l be available? Would the texture be as creamy? Would the pigments be as good? Turns out, we needn’t have worried. The 2.0 shadow formula is spiked with vitamin E and pomegranate seed, so it’s more buttery and smoother than before. And all our standbys are still here, as well as a host of tempting new options.
The biggest change is what NARS calls Pigment Power Suspension. This technology is what allows for incredible colour payoff in a single brush stroke. How does it work? The colour pigments are actually suspended in a liquid binding system that maximises their shade intensity. Rachel Goodwin, NARS director of Pro Artistry and Red Carpet told Allure that the new formula has a creamy feeling even though it’s dry. “It moves with the skin in this unique luxurious way, yet you get the hyper-pigmentation that NARS is known for.” Read: velvety texture, vivid colour.
The new formula has now been rolled out in all NARS shadows including singles, duos and quads. The finishes range from lustrous satins to glamorous mattes, metallic shimmers to multi-dimensional, highly reflective glitters. As a whole, the collection really pushes the limits of artistry and works to create innovative, unexpected looks. So dip in your brush and go for it!
