Who doesn’t need more Byredo in their lives? We thought so. We’ve struck up the brand’s new cult candle Safran and winter just got a whole lot sunnier.

Frankly, this candle will make you want to Instagram your night at home all alone – you in soft cashmere, the slow, warm flicker and a glass of red. Plus Byredo’s hand-blown monochrome glass vessel is likeable as heck. Yes, we’ll say it: you’re #blessed.

Blame the spiritual-feels on the patchouli. Aromatherapeutically-speaking, this darkly sensual base note melts away up-tightness and stress and because it’s from the Swedish fragrance masters, it’s deliciously complex. Byredo candles don’t give off the standard one-dimensional smell of most candles – they employ proper spatial perfumes that radiate the complex top, middle and base notes of a real fragrance.

Safran balances an opening of saffron and sharp black pepper with a cosy heart of labdanum, leather and violet. Vanilla and dark amber mingle with patchouli down at the base as it burns, giving the candle a spiced, just-baked sweetness. Or as our fragrance specialist Chris Mesh at Myer Melbourne says: “It's the perfect ambient twist of Byredo’s Black Saffron perfume to fill your space with a radiant cacophony of spice and sweetness. To be enjoyed whilst sipping a chai latte by a roaring fire. Winter bliss.”
