MECCA Brands Graduate Program - FAQs

ELIGIBILITY

Am I eligible to apply for the 2020 MECCA Brands Graduate Program?

We hope so!

If you can answer 'yes' to each of the following questions, we'd love to receive your application:

  1. Are you (or by the end of 2019, will you be) a university Graduate from the class of 2017, 2018 or 2019?
  2. Do you have a weighted average mark of 65 or more?
  3. Are you based in Melbourne or are you willing to meet us in Melbourne for any recruitment related activities and re-locate to Melbourne for the Graduate program?
  4. Are you an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or do you hold Australian Permanent Residency?
  5. Do you have previous or current experience working as a Store Host in one of our MECCA stores? If not, are you available from October 2019 to work as a Summer Store Host over the summer of 2019/2020 in your local MECCA Brands store, to learn about our amazing customers and exclusive products?
  6. Are you passionate about going places with your career, rotating through up to four teams in our Support Centre, and becoming a future leader of MECCA Brands?

If your answers are a resounding 'yes', then we would love to see your application!

Do I need to hold any particular degree to be able to apply?

No particular degree is needed, so long as you hold at least a University Bachelor’s degree and will have graduated from the last of your University studies in 2017, 2018 or 2019. We're looking for Graduates with a rande of academic qualifications and interests who can be successful in many different roles.

Do I need to be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident to apply?

Yes. MECCA Brands is only able to offer positions to Graduates that are Australian or New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia.

We are so sorry if this rules you out from our Graduate program. We love our MECCA Beauties from all over the world and we value different perspectives in our Graduate program. But the thing is, at the moment we are so lucky to receive so many applications from strong, talented and qualified applicants who are Australian or New Zealand Citizens, or Australian Permanent Residents, that we are not able to offer Graduate positions outside of these groups.

Do I need previous experience with MECCA Brands?

Our purpose at MECCA Brands is to enable our customers to look and feel their best. Our stores are our beating heart. There's no better way to understand our purpose, meet our MECCA-mazing customers and learn about our exceptional and exclusive products, than by spending time in one of our vibrant stores as an in-store Host.

We therefore will only accept Graduates who are either:

  • currently working at or previously have worked at a MECCA Brands store; or
  • available to come onboard as a Summer Store Host in one of our MECCA Brands stores from October 2019 to January 2020.

Can I apply if I don’t live in Melbourne?

Yes! We would love to bring your interstate / international experiences to Melbourne and fill our Support Centre with talent from all corners of Australia and New Zealand.

However please be aware that if you progress through our application process, you will need to be available to attend our one-day Graduate Recruitment Forum in Melbourne in late April/early May 2019 (the precise date will be communicated to successful candidates). And if you are invited to join our Graduate program, you will need to be prepared to move to Melbourne for the two-year duration of the Graduate program, starting in early February 2020.

OUR SUPPORT CENTRE

Where is MECCA Brands' Support Centre located and how many people work in it?

Our Support Centre is located in two neighbouring, beautifully converted industrial spaces in Richmond, just east of the Melbourne CBD.

What is the culture in MECCA Brands' Support Centre?

In one word, open. We are open to ideas, open to boldness, open to trying new things, open to working across teams… and, fittingly, our Support Centre is completely open plan (you can take a peek at our Support Centre on Vogue Australia’s site)!

We are driven. One of our values is to do whatever it takes.

We work collaboratively. We hustle. We are fair. We practice generosity. We celebrate successes. And we have fun.

ARE THERE INTERNSHIP OR WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE IN MECCA BRANDS’ SUPPORT CENTRE?

At this stage, we don’t offer an internship or work experience program in our Support Centre.
